R-Serisi’nin Grand Sports Tourer tanımı kazanmasının nedenini daha ilk sürüşte anlarsınız. Sürekli dört tekerlekten çekiş, masraflı aks konstrüksiyonu, arka aks havalı süspansiyonu, uzun aks mesafesi ve sürüş dinamiği fonksiyonları son derece konforlu sürüş sunar.
Ön tekerleklerin kılavuzluğunu; sürüş konforunu ve sürüş dinamizmini iyileştiren çift alt salıncaklı bir aks üstlenir. Arka tekerlekler masraflı dört bağlantı kollu bir konstrüksiyonla donatılmıştır. Arka aks standart olarak, ön aks ise istek üzerine bir havalı süspansiyon ile temin edilebilir.
Bu, sürüş konforunu daha da arttırır ve AIRMATIC paketinin bir parçasıdır. Sistem uyarlanabilir sönümleme sistemi ADS ile birlikte araç yüklü durumdayken de iyi bir süspansiyon sağlar. Bu sistem süspansiyon ünitelerinin altına yerleştirilmiş ve sıkıştırılmış havayla doldurulmuş olan plastik körüklerden yararlanır. 120 km/h’den itibaren karoseri otomatik olarak alçalır. Bu arada hava direnci ve böylelikle yakıt tüketimi azalır. Aynı zamanda karoseri AIRMATIC paketi çerçevesinde tuşa basmak suretiyle taban serbestliğinin sağlanması ve örneğin kötü yol şartlarının üstesinden gelinebilmesi için 50 mm yükseltilebilir.
R-Serisi’nin sürekli dört tekerden çekişli yürüyen aksamı sayesinde yol olmayan yerlerde bile hemen hemen hiçbir şey hissetmezsiniz. Yürüyen aksam, Elektronik Stabilite Programı ESP® ile birlikte çalışır, bu program tekerleklerin yer tutuşu tehlikeye girdiğinde sizi destekler. Bu esnada ön aks ve arka aks arasındaki tahrik momenti 50:50 oranında dağıtılır. |

All-wheel drive and AIRMATIC package: for a comfortable ride on all roads
The R-Class is not called a Grand Sports Tourer for nothing, as you’ll notice from your very first drive. Permanent all-wheel drive, advanced axle design, rear air suspension, a long wheelbase and vehicle dynamics systems all make for an exceedingly comfortable ride.
The front wheels are located by a double-wish- bone suspension for enhanced ride quality and handling, while the rear wheels have a sophisticated four-link configuration. Air suspension is standard at the rear and optional at the front.
Front air suspension, available as part of the AIRMATIC package, raises the ride comfort further. By means of its integral Adaptive Damping System (ADS), which adds or releases air from the rubber bellows inside the struts, AIRMATIC maintains this high standard even when the vehicle is fully laden. At speeds over 120 km/h, the vehicle is automatically lowered, thereby reducing drag and fuel consumption. To increase ground clearance, for example on poor roads, the AIRMATIC package also allows the vehicle level to be raised, at the press of a button, by up to 50 mm.
Unsurfaced roads are never a problem in the R Class, in fact with the permanent all-wheel drive you’ll hardly notice them. All-wheel drive works in close tandem with the Electronic Stability Program ESP®, which provides assistance whenever the wheels are on the point of losing grip. It splits the drive equally in a ratio of 50:50 between the front and rear wheels.
