CLK Cabriolet comes with head/thorax airbags, which can improve safety in lateral collisions. These airbags are fitted in the outer edges of the front seat backrests and inflate to cover part of the doors paneling and closed side window. If a collision exceeds a certain severity, they are deployed on the side of the car exposed to the impact.

Another safety plus: The automatic safety profile. If the danger of a rollover exists, the rollover bars in integrated to the headrests move out at a split second.
